Welcome to Punjabi School
The literary value of Punjabi as written in the Guru Granth Sahib is of great importance. Punjabi, is spoken in the Punjab, the historic
region now divided between India and Pakistan. Millions of immigrants abroad speak Punjabi. The Punjabi language is closely associated with the Sikh religion. Its alphabet, known as Gurmukhi, was the vehicle for recording the teachings of the Sikh Gurus.
It was invented by Guru Angad Dev ji in the 16th century. Gurmukhi means "proceeding from the mouth of the Guru." Gurmukhi is
a simplified script that contains 10 vowels and 40 consonants. The script is written just as you would speak the language ,thus making
it easier to read and write. The Gurmukhi school being run at the Gurudwara Sahib premises is an excellent effort to teach Gurmukhi to
the next generation, so that Guru Granth Sahib can be read in its original form.
The online Punjabi learning is especially designed for those children who don't know how to speak or write Punjabi even though their
family background is from Punjab. This site is basically designed for all those children who are interested in learning Punjabi but don't have access to any Punjabi teaching facility..
